Gardena Wood Flooring has refinished, repaired and installed wood floors in Gardena, CA for more than 20 years. Most of our work happens in the houses this city is actually made of: homes built in the 1950s and the decades around it, many with original oak hiding under carpet, and rental buildings where floors have to be turned around between tenants.

We are a flooring company that would rather save a floor than sell a new one. When a family has lived on the same boards for decades, our first job is to tell them whether a repair or a refinish will do before anyone talks about replacement.

Our Approach

Worker sighting along a new oak board from an opened carton at the start of a Gardena job.

We start underneath. Before a finish floor is priced, we check the subfloor for soft spots, swollen decking and damaged joists, and we measure moisture in the wood and in any concrete slab. Those readings are written down and kept with the job, so the floor we recommend is based on what is actually there rather than on a guess. When water has damaged a floor, we trace it back to the source first, whether a dishwasher line, a water heater or a slab leak, and document it with photos and readings an insurance adjuster can use.

We work carefully in older houses. Most homes in Gardena were built before 1978, so we follow lead-safe practices when sanding near painted trim, and we treat old floor tile and black mastic as a possible asbestos question before anything is scraped. The finishes we use are legal to apply in the South Coast air basin under the 275 g/L limit for wood coatings. We contain dust while we work and leave a written cure schedule, so a family living in the house knows when each room can be walked on and furnished again.

We try to make the paperwork as clear as the floor. Landlords turning over a triplex or fourplex get written estimates and invoices broken out unit by unit, the kind California deposit rules expect when repair costs are itemized. Sellers get a plain explanation of what Gardena’s presale inspection report is and what it is not, so floor work before a listing is a decision rather than a guess. Stairs are priced per tread and riser, not buried in a square-foot number.

What We Do

Our work covers wood floor refinishing, hardwood floor repair and new hardwood installation, including engineered hardwood, wide plank and herringbone layouts, and hardwood stairs. We handle water-damaged floors and subfloor repair, and we pull up carpet to either restore the oak underneath or put a new wood floor down. If you have a floor you are wondering about, get in touch to request an estimate, and we will come look at it, lift a corner if needed, and tell you what we would do.
